Good morning and Happy Wednesday!

If you’re just sorting through your Email inbox and you notice an outrageous looking Citi Credit Card bill demanding a minimum payment of $1,000.00 or above, keep your cool! The message has a subject line of ‘Your Citi Credit Card Statement‘ and while it might seem like a legitimate Email message, it isn’t.

Beware Of This Hoax Email Message

The full text of the message reads:

Add [email protected] to your address book to ensure delivery.

Your Account: Important Notification

Your Citi Credit Card statement is ready to view online

Dear Cardholder,

Your Citi Credit Card statement is now available for you to view online. Here are some key pieces of information from your statement:

Statement Date: July 12, 2012
Statement Balance: $2434.94
Minimum Payment Due: $1104.88
Payment Due Date: July 15, 2012

To set up alerts sign on to and go to Account Profile.

I prefer not to have this email contain specific information from my statement. Please send me just the announcement that my statement is ready to view online.

In all, the sender provides seven bogus links that all resolve to an IP address that aren’t associated with Citibank, so be sure not to click on any of these and delete this message immediately to avoid any complications that could arise due to viruses or other malicious code.
