If you’re planning to travel - or not - for the 4th of July holiday, be sure not to fall for the latest Email phishing attempt that’s designed to fool you.

American Airlines Fake Email

This Email  message purports to be sent from a gentleman named Alan Wolff on behalf of American Airlines and has the subject line ‘Your American Airlines Order Has Been Processed.’ and claims that your ‘preferred seats’ have been purchased. The full text of the message reads:

Date of Issue: 2JULY12

Thank you for choosing American Airlines / American Eagle, a member of the oneworld® Alliance.

This receipt is for the purchase of your Preferred Seat(s) which are detailed on your itinerary and receipt confirmation.

If you have any questions regarding your reservations, please call 1-800-433-7300 or visit www.aa.com.

The ‘sender’ provides 6 bogus links in both images and click-through links, but don’t make the mistake of being fooled by them. If you get this hoax message, be sure to delete the message immediately to  avoid any complications that this could cause on your computer or computer network.
