You should make sure it’s okay by clicking on the included link. If you do, you’ll be prompted to cough up information and get yourself in major trouble. Don’t be tempted to click. Just delete and move on.
The full text of the email is as follows:
Your Weekly payroll for check date October 09, 2012 is processed. Your payroll must be done at least Three days prior to your check date to ensure timely tax deposits and delivery. If you propose direct deposit to your employees, this will also assure pay down their money right at the necessary date.

Of course this email has nothing to do with your payroll service. It’s simply a common phishing attempt, and not a very impressive one at that. Most phishers will at least try and leverage a famous company hoping to send it to baffled customers. Not these guys. They’re sending out unbranded payroll notifications and hoping for the best. If you get this email, just delete it. With a subject line of Your Be-Weekly Payroll Is Processed you just know that no good could come out of opening or reading this! Avoid click on phishing emails. That’s just good practice.
