Parallels has released Virtuozzo Containers 4.7 which introduces some important new features. For those who don’t know, Virtuozzo Containers are a virtualization solution offered by Parallels that offers numerous advantages for those offering hosting solutions. The latest version fixes a number of bugs while making additional improvements.
Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 4.7 now has a new kernel. The new kernel is the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL 6) kernel. This kernel offers a more optimized performance than prior versions, so you can expect faster load times and a better overall handling of system resources. Users will experience overall improved performance.
As part of offering the RHEL 6 kernel, Virtuozzo Containers templates for RedHat Enterprise and CentOS 6 can now be used. If you install Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 4.7 on Red Hat or CentOS 6, you can offer VPS based on templates for those operating systems.
PVC 4.7 also introduces improvements to how memory is handled. Again, the primary reason for the new handling is to make performance gains.
IPV6 now fully supported
IPv6 support is now fully supported by Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 4.7. IPv6 is gaining ground and can now be easily provisioned using Parallels software.
