Don’t Be Duped By ‘Thank You For Your Verizon Wireless Payment’ Email Now Circulating
It’s no secret that many people rely on Verizon Wireless for phone services and to access the Internet, so a recent Email titled “Thank You for your Verizon Wireless Payment” is geared towards fooling Verizon Wireless subscribers to click on a malicious link that could cause computer problems.
The Email message purports to be sent from AccountNotify@verizonwireless.com which at first glance seems legitimate enough, but if you hover over the links and pay attention to the destination URL you’ll see that this isn’t a legit Email at all.
The full text of the Email reads:
Thank you for your payment
Your bill payment has been applied to your Verizon Wireless account.
Here are the details of your payment confirmation.
Payment Amount: $1323.71

As you can see in the attached image, the sender has provided links for recipients to “Manage Your Account Online,” to “View Terms and Conditions” to “Review Privacy Policies” and to “Update Your Preferences.”
Unfortunately, all of these clickable links actually resolve to another domain that has nothing to do with your actual Verizon Wireless account.
