“DHL Package Delivery Status” Email Attempts To Fool Recipients
If you’ve recently sent something out by way of DHL or you’re expecting a delivery from them, be sure not to fall for a hoax Email that purports to be sent from “status@dhl.com” with the Subject lineĀ ”DHL Package Delivery Status” as this is another message seeking to ‘phish’ your computer for sensitive information and isn’t actually a legitimate Email from the package courier.
The brief message reads,
Dear your name,
hereby we notify you that shipment at your destination, tracking ID #43517726, has FAILED due to an address discrepancy. To claim your package please print out the attached document and contact DHL US support
Feel free to contact us with any further questions.
If you would like to speak to a DHL Express Support Agent, please call the DHL Service Desk at 1-800-527-7298.
As you can see, the sender instructs you to click on an attached .zip file that likely contains malware designed to harvest information from your computer or pass the infection along to others in your email address book easily. If you get this message, be sure to delete it so you can avoid any computer complications that could arise as a result of it. Also be on the lookout for another Email that purports to be sent on the behalf of Skype, claiming that “your Skype account has been limited” as this is another fraudulent Email making rounds on the Internet today.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope that this post helped prevent you from making a wrong click. If you found this helpful, kindly share it with your friends so they can avoid a Monday filled with computer problems! Viruses and malware isn’t something anyone needs to start the new work week.
