An outbreak of a fraudulent Email that purports to be sent on behalf of DHL is still hitting both individual and corporate inboxes pretty badly.

In the last four days, I’ve received at least 9 of these messages in an unfiltered Email box, so I’m pretty confident that this malicious Email has been making appearances in lots of other unfiltered inboxes as well.

As you can see in the provided image, there’s been a steady stream of these fraudulent messages being delivered in the last 48 hours or so, but they all started earlier this month.

This Email doesn’t mince words and uses the subject line “DHL Package delivery status” or a variation of this. The sender is reportedly ‘status@dhl.com‘

The entire text of the message reads:

Dear *name removed*,

with this message we notify you that shipment at your address, tracking ID #76055111, has FAILED due to an address discrepancy. To obtain your package please print out the attached form and contact DHL US support

Feel free to contact us with further questions.

If you would like to speak to a DHL Express Support Agent, please call the DHL Service Desk at 1-800-527-7298.

If you listen to the ‘instructions’ of the sender, you’re supposed  to print off the attached .zip file – forcing you to click – in order to ‘obtain’ your package. In reality, clicking on  this file will help the tricksters ‘obtain’ access to information stored on your computer or cause a computer virus, so be sure to immediately delete this message if you find it awaiting you.
